What is included in Basic Website Hosting?
The $35 monthly plan includes hosting for your website, SSL where supported, domain connection and DNS management, basic uptime monitoring (not 24/7 monitoring or a guaranteed response time), and support for hosting, SSL, DNS, or domain connection issues. HostGator-provided backups, updates, and security features apply to either plan where included in the hosting plan. Content and design edits are not included.
What does the $65 Hosting + Care plan add?
It includes everything in Basic Hosting, plus up to 30 minutes of total edit-request work per monthly billing cycle, a check of the updated page and affected links or buttons after each included edit, and priority scheduling during normal business hours, subject to availability.
What types of website edits are included?
The allowance covers all time spent on requests, including reviewing the materials you provide, making small updates to existing text or business details, replacing existing images you provide, and checking the change. It is one shared 30-minute allowance per monthly billing cycle, not 30 minutes per task. Unused time does not roll over.
What if I need more than 30 minutes of edits?
We’ll let you know when a request is likely to exceed the remaining allowance. We’ll pause when the 30 minutes are used; any further work is $50 per hour, prorated to time spent, and starts only after you approve the described work and estimated cost in writing (email is fine). If the scope changes, we’ll pause and request approval before continuing.
Are new pages or major design changes included?
No. New pages, design changes, new functionality, image sourcing, and major revisions are outside both monthly plans. We’ll describe the scope and estimate first; work is $50 per hour, prorated to time spent, and begins only after your written approval.
Can I cancel my monthly service?
Yes. Provide written notice before your next billing date to stop the next monthly hosting charge. Hosting cancellation does not cancel domain registration; the domain remains yours and can be transferred or managed separately.
Can I transfer my domain if I cancel hosting?
Yes. You remain the legal registrant and owner and can request a transfer to another registrar. Hosting and domain management are separate services; canceling hosting does not transfer or cancel the domain automatically. If you want us to continue managing it, the separate $20 annual domain service continues.
Do I need to purchase my own domain name?
No! We can handle the entire process for you. Simply tell us the domain name you'd like, and we'll take care of registration, setup, and DNS configuration. Your domain will be registered in your name, and you'll retain ownership.
Do I own my domain name?
You do. Your domain is registered using your legal ownership information. We manage the technical details, DNS settings, and renewals on your behalf.
How much does domain registration cost?
One available standard domain is $20 per year, including registration, renewal, and management, billed separately from monthly hosting. If registration or renewal costs more, we’ll tell you the exact additional amount and get your approval before purchase or renewal. No additional domain charge will be made without your approval.
